Congratulations for a 11 - 0 season, and being invited to the "BIG DOG BOWL." They will go against The Glendale, Arizona Bandits, at the Redlands California High School, Dodge Stadium, in Redlands California. The game will be played Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 2:00pm.
The tournament is hosted by Artist Snoop Dog, and consists of 26 champion teams throughout the nation. He has also established the Snoop Youth Football League in Los Angeles.
For the most part, West Jefferson Hills Youth Football funding is provided from the kids' registration fees. So there was no way that they could afford to take the team and supporting cast to state of California for a football game. On the other hand, this is the only team from Pennsylvania invited, and it is difficult to pass on this honor.
.
West Jefferson Hills Youth Football is self sufficient, with participation from the three communities of Jefferson Hills, Pleasant Hills, and West Elizabeth. They have no facilities for practices and games, and the P.J. Dick Corporation has generously allowed their property, along route 51, to be used. Of course, this may only be temporary until this property is sold and needed for other uses.
Former Jefferson Hill's Councilman, Dominic Serapiglia, contacted the agent of Steelers Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger to see if Big Ben would have any interest in helping out. Ben is, and has been supportive of youth football and agreed to write a check for $18,000 to finance the trip.
Much thanks to Ben Roethlisberger, Snoop Dog, and Dominic Serapiglia for making this happen for the kids. This is something that will build character and something they will not forget.
